The premium rum
DON JULIO SANTOS CASTILLO
on Julio Santos Castillo – a wealthy merchant and a well-known spirits aficionado of the late XIX century. His passion for fine spirits has driven him in search for the perfect rum in the Caribbean basin.
After over a decade of travelling the region and learning the diverse and exciting world of rum, he ended up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; there he made friends with another rum enthusiast and the owner of one the oldest Rum factories.

Together the two came up with a blend of rum that stopped Don Julio's search. This rum was never sold, but the merchant always had a stock in his cellar. Only his journals and letters helped us uncover the secret recipe that we've tried to recreate in Rum Del Dueño.
Rum Del Dueño Gran Reserva
A blend of cane spirits aged in barrels for up to 12 years
Full-bodied rum with intense dark caramel color
Smoke, wood and raisins
Dark chocolate, jam, oak, cinnamon

Old Fashioned Del Dueno
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces of 7Y Del Dueno rum
3 drops of angostura bitters
1 lump of brown sugar
½ ounce of cold water
1 curl of orange peel
1 cherry
METHOD:
Put the sugar lump and the three drops of angostura bitters in a low glass. Add the water and mash with a muddler until you get a reddish syrup. Add two or three ice cubes and an ounce of rum and mix. Add two or three more ice cubes and the rest of the rum. Mix again. Twist the orange peel and add it to the cocktail to extract the essential oils from the orange. Mix for the last time and decorate with a cherry.
Neat Del Dueno
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces of 12Y Del Dueno rum
METHOD:
Serve in a balloon glass and accompany with a glass of water.
Martini Del Dueno
INGREDIENTS:
1 ounce of 12Y Del Dueno rum
¾ ounce of Italian sweet Vermouth
¾ ounce of orange juice
¼ ounce of blackberry liqueur
¼ ounce of green apple liqueur
Orange peel to garnish
METHOD:
In a shaker filled with ice, combine 1 ounce of 12Y Del Dueno rum, ¾ ounce of Italian sweet Vermouth, ¾ ounce of orange juice, ¼ ounce of blackberry liqueur, and ¼ ounce of green apple liqueur. Shake well to combine all ingredients, then strain the mixture twice and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. To finish, garnish with a strip of orange peel, twisting it over the drink to release its citrusy aroma.
